Reaching back in time, Kelly Slater showed everyone the heart of a champion.
On Saturday, the surfing legend won his eighth Billabong Pro Pipeline on Saturday, the 56th victory of his pro career that now stretches over 3 decades. Slater won with a final score of 18.77.
He defeated 24 year old Seth Moniz in the final. Moniz is the son of Tony Moniz, whom Slater competed against earlier in his career.
Commenting after securing his win, Slater said, "I committed my life to this, to all of this. To all of the heartbreak and all of the winning and all of this crap. I've hated lots of it, but I just savor this. This is the best win of my life."
